Clubs and Mental Health

I've described how belonging to a club keeps me and other tennis and bowls members fit, or fitter, in the post Up the Clubs! (https://openlondon.crowdicity.com/post/3839919?sortBy=newest&forMilestone=0&forPhase=0&postOrderPosition=0) but the other side of that coin, especially for older members is the social side of belonging to a club. It gives me another place to be other than my flat which is indispensible to me, and it's like having another place to call home. It gives plenty of reasons to get up, and get on, whether you play for the club, or make the rolls for a Thursday night, or run the social quizzes, or help run the place. Parents have a place to hang out and socialise when their kids are having tennis lessons. It helps to build the local scene. You are part of something much bigger than just yourself and I believe this keeps people motivated and connected.
