No Food Waste Collection for Flats
So.. when I moved into my flat I noted that we (the block of flats) were meant to have a brown collecting bin for food waste. There wasn't one. I rang up (this took hours of my time), was passed around between collection provider and council etc, they did say Yes, you should have a Brown bin - two years later no brown bin. So I have to put the food waste in the rubbish. Which feels bad - it could be used to make lovely compost. Some enterprising London Compost Company is missing a trick here. If you live in flats in London - do you have a separate collection for food waste? We do have a Garden Centre near me - maybe they should make a big compost heap. (Image by Nick Normal on Flickr)

I definitely have the same issue in my borough. I live in a flat, a tower building of 20 floors. There isn't a food collection system yet in all the borough, and it is even more difficult as a flat resident to compost at home. There is a garden about 30mn walk from from my house but then I can't see myself carrying my food waste on a weekly basis there. I've thought about having an electric composter at home but it would take space and then I wouldn't be able to dispose of the soil anywhere. I hate throwing out food waste into the main bin but feel like I have not other viable solutions..
